 | | I'm curious...who could that be reading in the library?? | Sheridan Elementary is lucky enough to have Christine Faust running its Media Center. Among other things, Mrs. Faust helps maintain our 20,000+ plus book collection, which involves keeping up-to-date on our Renaissance collection.
Renaissance Learning and the Library
Because Sheridan uses the Renaissance Learning program, nearly every book at Sheridan, in the library and classrooms, has a color-coded dot on the spine indicating its reading level. There are 19 levels of books, | | Volunteer Samantha Zitur shelves books in the Sheridan Library. | ranging from pre-first grade reading level to 12th. This helps individual students find material that is "just right" for them in terms of reading difficulty - challenging, yet not overwhelming! Our collection is also categorized by subject and theme. Students can access the school's online card catalog from any of 10 computers in the library, or any classroom in the building, using terms like "wrestling", "4th grade", "Harry Potter", or "Dahl".
Stop by and check out our amazing library and media center - Mrs. Faust would be happy to show you around.
