Sheridan Elementary welcomes teacher, Mary Holmes, who joins Ka Xiong on our second grade team.
Expectations At the end of second grade, your child will be able to: - Show that she/he can use reading to get information and enjoyment - Read at least 25 books for information or entertainment, talk about them, and retell them in his/her own words. - Share personal experiences that connect to a book she/he read. - Write a story with a beginning, middle and ending. - Follow directions that have multiple steps - Use details and examples when speaking. - Check his/her work for spelling, grammar and punctuation - Tell the difference between fact and fantasy and fact and fiction. - Tell time, read a calendar and a thermometer and measure things - Identify shapes and patterns - Make and read graphs - Read and write numbers to 1,000 - Use more than one way to solve a math problem and explain the reasoning they used to solve the math problem the way they did. - Count and write money amounts using coins and dollars - Complete and describe number patterns, such as when counting by threes, fives or tens. - Correctly add and subtract two and three digit numbers - Know addition and subtraction facts up to 18 - Identify simple fractions such as halves and fourths Parent Workshop If
