My name is Mrs. Calnon.  I am teaching one of the two new Pre-K/Kindergarten combination classes this year.  It is my first year teaching at Sheridan but I have taught both Preschool and Kindergarten in the past.

This year we are going to be very busy.  At the beginning of the year we will spend time learning the rituals and routines of school as well as good social skills.  Throughout the year we will be working on many skills.  Some of the skills will be a focus for the whole class while others may be just for the Pre-K or Kindergarten students.  In Math we will be working on colors, shapes, numbers and counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.  We will also be learning about money, measurement and many other exciting things.  In Reading and Writing we will be learning our alphabet as well as the sounds that go with each letter.  We will be reading lots of great books and will work on becoming writers.  We will learn site words and how to sound out and spell words.  In addition to all of the above things we will be doing Science activities and will have Music and Phy Ed.  I am looking forward to a great year at Sheridan teaching this exciting new class!
