POLICIES AND PROGRAMS
School-Wide Discipline: Four Basic Rules
The School-Wide District policies have been developed by the Sheridan Elementary School staff to attain the following objectives building wide.
1. To create a school environment that inspires respect for learning, promotes self-discipline, respect for learning, respect for others, good citizenship, and responsibility for individual behavior.
2. To assure that all students understand their rights and responsibilities as members of the school community.
3. To implement discipline rules that are consistent to all students, by all staff, with the cooperation of all parents.
4. To involve students, parents, and staff in the process of reviewing the discipline report data and revising our discipline policies in the SCIP process annually.
SHERIDAN SCHOOL RULES
A. Treat yourself, school staff, other students, and school property with RESPECT.
B. Follow Directions.
C. Walk and talk quietly inside the building. Do not run in the hallways.
D. Keep an orderly line while walking with your class in the hallways.
E. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.
F. No gum chewing.
G. No pop or glass bottles on school property
H. Do not bring toys to school. This includes trading cards, dolls, headphones, pagers, cell phones, or electronic games unless a teacher has given permission for a special occasion.
RULES AND DISCIPLINE
BATHROOMS
Paper towels should be thrown in the wastebasket.
Use the bathroom facilities properly.
Always wash your hands before leaving the bathroom
WATER FOURNTAINS
Maintain an orderly line and wait patiently to use the fountain.
Limit your time at the fountain.
HALL PASSES
Students need hall passes to leave the classroom.
LUNCH ROOM
Please use talking voices.
No yelling in the lunch room.
Raise your hand if you need assistance.
Always walk in the lunchroom.
Clean up your area before leaving the lunchroom.
Absolutely no throwing of food.
Do not bring pop or candy to lunch because we encourage nutritious eating habits particularly at mealtime.
DISMISSAL
To assure the safe dismissal for our students:
Walk in a orderly line with your classmates.
Grades 4, 5 and 6 will begin dismissal at 3:25 P.M.
All other classes will dismiss at 3:30 P.M., and proceed down the hall.
All second floor classrooms will dismiss using the south hallway.
All students must leave the classroom at the same time. (No stragglers)
Students must go to their specified dismissal area and remain there.
PATROLS WILL BE DISMISSED AT 3:20 P.M.
PLAYGROUND
No fighting or arguing.
No throwing dangerous objects
There is zero tolerance of weapons or objects used as weapons.
Line up when the whistle is blown.
No swearing or vulgar language.
Use fair and appropriate play.
BUS
Follow District bus policy rules according to the transportation pamphlet.
Classroom Expectations
Follow the four basic Sheridan School Rules
Follow individual classroom rules established by your class.
