Consequences

The Following Are the Consequences for Students Who Do Not Follow The Rules

 

Class 1 Offense

No discipline slip issued

 

The teacher uses the consequences established and agreed upon by the teacher and the class for the following classroom defined inappropriate behaviors, such as:

 

-         Talking out in class

-         Interrupting teaching/learning processes

-          Not following directions

-         Disrespect for others, staff, or self.

-         Missing homework

 

Class 2 Offense

Discipline Slip Issued

Pink Slip/Detention Notice

 

-         Repeated disruptions, interrupting.

-         Playground, lunchroom, hallway and restroom offenses

-         Blatant disrespect

-         Verbal harassment/arguing

-         Leaving assigned area without permission

 

Behavior Consequences

 

Step #1:

The paired classroom process begins when a student is sent to the paired classroom for no more than 15 minutes.  A discipline slip is issued to the student requiring a parent signature.

 

If a student continues with unacceptable behavior, step #2 will be initiated.

 

Step #2

An after school detention slip will be issued.  A date will be indicated for when detention will be served.  A parent must sign and return the slip indicating they know that they are responsible for picking up the child at 4:15 p.m. when detention is over.  A copy of this slip will be added to the child’s cumulative folder.  IF a child accrues three or more discipline infractions, a parent meeting will be scheduled with the principal, student, parent and other staff when appropriate.

 

After school detention will only be issued for Behavior Intervention Purposes.  Academic Concerns will be reserved for the classroom intervention.

 

Class 3 Offense 

 

Discipline Notification/Pink Slip/Detention Notice/Dismissal or Suspension Notice.

 

This is the most serious offence and the parent/guardian will be notified.  A discipline slip will be issued to thte student and the student will be referred to the Principal.

 

-         Truancy

-         Fighting

-         Assault

-         Extortion/Theft

-         Vandalism

-         Sexual/physical/racial harassment

-         Leaving school grounds without permission or authorization

-         Multiple infractions of class 1 and 2 offenses

-         Weapon related offenses

-         Other offenses that are considered class three offenses by the Principal

 

The District Student Conduct Guide can and will supercede the school discipline policy if the offense is severe enough to warrant it.
