The 2008-2009 School Year
We hope you are all having a wonderful summer! Check back here for supply lists and other information as we approach the beginning of our new school year.

Remember, the first student day is Tuesday, September 2!

Courtyard Dedication and Band Concert

Thursday's courtyard dedication and band concert were enjoyed in the light of a perfect spring day. Former Sheridan principals, staff,
Mrs. Holland
Retired music teacher, Mary Holland
and school board members joined students and current staff celebrating the creation of the Jan Chvatal Science Garden. Jan Chvatal was a third grade teacher at Sheridan in the early '90s, whose passion for science and art lead to the first ideas for the science garden. Former music teacher, Mary Holland, spearheaded the current effort, along with band teacher Eric Dahlberg, who wrote and received a generous grant which was matched by the Sheridan PTA. Along with the efforts of many students and staff, the dream of a science courtyard, originated by Ms. Chvatal more than a decade ago, has finally been realized. Thanks to all!

What's New
Author/Illustrator Rick Chrustowski Visits Sheridan
5/12/2008 12:29 PM
Rick ChrustowskiWisconsin author and illustrator, Rick Chrustowski, visited Sheridan on Wednesday, April 9, bringing his particular perspective on writing creative non-fiction.

Mr. Chrustowski shared that he has turned his own home into an observation center, creating gardens to attract lady bugs for his book, Bright Beetle, and digging a pond to become intimately familiar with the habitat of frogs for his book, Hop Frog.

He says, "Everything I learn I put into picture books. I try to write stories that are exciting to read and make artwork that's fun to look at. Lots of thrills keep factual information moving forward. And my drawings reflect a view of the world where learning is colorful, visual, and cool."
